The Radical Writer

a relational reading-writing workshop

in virtual communal workshops we will inquire, make, and think through the works of four women who traversed and re-shaped their respective genres.

St. Mary Magdalene,

Etel Adnan,

Suzanne Césaire,

Ursula K. Le Guin.

these thinkers wrote in the form of scripture, poetry, philosophy, and science-fiction while foregrounding the political dimensions of human nature(s). guided by their landscapes, seascapes, and spiritscapes we will open our doors of imagination and apply critical thinking to these texts as a way to craft works of creative resistance.

while reading and writing will be the departure points for our practice together, we will also expand into making-as-thinking with other mediums. the surreal, symbolic, and ecological will all shape our explorations of radical expression. with embodied emphasis on tactile practices of the hand, we will explore how gestures shape worlds into being

all assigned readings will be provided for free through open-sourcing online. participants are invited to bring journals, notepads, pastels, crayons or whichever creative tools inspire them.

imagine the spirit of a book club meets a multi-media creative studio... we invite you to immerse yourself for 9 weeks of depth, curiosity, and play

“Surrealism is permanent readiness for the Marvelous.”

―Suzanne Césaire
